Best Dating Apps in the Philippines 2026 (Local Usage Data)

By Vicky from DateAtlas9 min read

Tinder is the most-used dating app in the Philippines on our data, scoring 9 out of 10 on the DateAtlas usage scale, with FilipinoCupid and OkCupid tied behind it at 8/10. But "most used" is a weak way to pick an app here: across the ten apps we track in the Philippines, safety scores range from 5/10 to 9/10 and premium subscriptions run from $6.99 to $34.99 a month — a 5× spread for a month of the same basic thing. The right pick depends on which of those three numbers you care about.

The ranking, by local usage score

Our usage score is a 0–10 editorial estimate of how much traction an app actually has in that specific country — not a global download chart. Here is the full Philippines set, ranked:

| # | App | Usage | Safety | Premium/mo | Play rating (global) | |---|---|---|---|---|---| | 1 | Tinder | 9 | 6 | $6.99 | 3.8 | | 2 | FilipinoCupid | 8 | 6 | $29.99 | 4.4 | | 2 | OkCupid | 8 | 8 | $19.99 | 3.4 | | 4 | Bumble | 7 | 8 | $12.99 | 3.9 | | 4 | Badoo | 7 | 5 | $9.99 | 4.0 | | 4 | Boo | 7 | 7 | $12.99 | 4.0 | | 4 | PinaLove | 7 | 6 | $19.99 | not in our Play data | | 8 | Coffee Meets Bagel | 6 | 9 | $34.99 | 3.1 | | 8 | Happn | 6 | 7 | $14.99 | 3.3 | | 10 | Hinge | 5 | 8 | $16.99 | 3.4 |

A note on that last column: Google Play ratings are global listings. There is no per-country rating in our data and we do not publish one. A 4.4 next to FilipinoCupid means the app is well-rated worldwide, not that Filipino users rate it 4.4.

The shape of this list is unusual compared with most of our 30 countries. Two of the top four — FilipinoCupid and PinaLove — are Philippines-specific platforms rather than global apps, and our notes describe both as heavily oriented toward international dating: FilipinoCupid for serious cross-border relationships, PinaLove with a more casual, foreigner-facing dynamic and a free-for-women, paid-for-men structure. Very few countries in our dataset have two local platforms this high in the ranking.

Usage and safety point in different directions

This is the part a popularity list will not tell you. In the Philippines, the correlation between how many people use an app and how safe we judge it runs slightly negative:

  • Tinder is the biggest pool at 9/10 usage — and one of the weaker safety scores at 6/10.
  • Badoo is joint-fourth on usage at 7/10 with the lowest safety score of the ten at 5/10.
  • Coffee Meets Bagel has our highest Philippines safety score at 9/10 and only 6/10 on usage — a small, curated, high-intent pool.
  • OkCupid is the one app that scores well on both: 8/10 usage and 8/10 safety, at $19.99.

On our scale 8+ is relatively high and below 4 warrants extra caution, so nothing here is alarming — but a 5 and a 9 in the same country are meaningfully different products. These are editorial estimates from our criteria, not measurements, and they are not a guarantee about any individual experience.

Country context matters more than app choice for safety, though. We flag scam prevalence as a real concern in the Philippines and the national safety index sits at 5.3/10, the lower half of our 30 countries. Romance-scam pressure is not something an app's safety score fixes. Verify by video before meeting, meet in public, and do not send money — to anyone, for any reason, ever.

Pricing: $6.99 to $34.99 for the same month

Premium subscriptions in the Philippines span a 5× range:

| Price band | Apps | |---|---| | Under $10 | Tinder $6.99, Badoo $9.99 | | $10–$20 | Bumble $12.99, Boo $12.99, Happn $14.99, Hinge $16.99, OkCupid $19.99, PinaLove $19.99 | | Over $20 | FilipinoCupid $29.99, Coffee Meets Bagel $34.99 |

The median is $15.99, slightly above the $14.99 median across all 309 app-country rows we track globally. That is worth sitting with: the Philippines is the third-cheapest of our 30 countries for an actual date ($33 average, against $125 in the United States and $218 in Switzerland), yet dating-app subscriptions are priced at or above the global middle. Coffee Meets Bagel's $34.99 costs more than an average date out.

If you are on a local budget rather than a foreign one, the honest read is that Tinder at $6.99 plus the free tiers of Boo and Badoo cover most of the value, and the $30-plus tier is priced for a foreign wallet.

No app here needs a local SIM

Every one of the ten Philippines rows in our dataset has needs_local_sim set to false. That is not universal — several local-market apps elsewhere in our data do require a domestic number to register — so if you are arriving on a foreign SIM, or setting up before you land, none of these ten should block you at signup.

Why the Philippines scores so well overall

Our composite Dating Score puts the Philippines at 75.9/100, 4th of the 30 countries we cover, behind only the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain. That ranking is driven by three things:

  • Cost. $33 for an average date — meal for two, two beers, two coffees — is third-cheapest in our set. Only India ($24) and Indonesia ($28) are lower.
  • English. An EF EPI score of 570 puts the Philippines in the "High proficiency" band and 11th of our 30 countries — ahead of Malaysia, Spain, Italy and France. For an English-speaking visitor this removes the single largest friction in cross-border dating.
  • Openness. We score cultural openness at 7.9/10 and flag online dating as socially accepted, with an active user base we record at 4.5M and a typical app-user age band of 20–28.

The counterweights are equally clear in the data and we would rather say them than bury them: a 5.3/10 safety index, a scam-prevalence flag, an LGBTQ+ score of 4.5/10, and a dating culture we classify as traditional with moderate gender roles. Full breakdown, including the comparison scores, is on the Philippines country page.

Which one should you actually download?

  • Biggest pool, lowest price: Tinder — 9/10 usage, $6.99, most active in Metro Manila. Weakest safety score of the top three.
  • Best all-rounder on our numbers: OkCupid — the only app scoring 8/10 on both usage and safety, questionnaire-based matching, strong with English-speaking urban Filipinos.
  • Serious, cross-border intent: FilipinoCupid — 8/10 usage and the best global Play rating of the ten at 4.4, but $29.99/month.
  • Small pool, highest safety score: Coffee Meets Bagel — 9/10 safety, curated daily matches, $34.99.
  • Under 28 and want friends too: Boo — 7/10 usage, 7/10 safety, $12.99, personality-based matching that skews young.

Frequently asked questions

Tinder, on our data. We score it 9/10 for usage in the Philippines, the highest of the ten apps we track there, and our notes record it as most active in Metro Manila. FilipinoCupid and OkCupid follow at 8/10.

What is the best free dating app in the Philippines?

Tinder, Badoo and Boo all have usable free tiers and are the cheapest to upgrade if you decide to ($6.99, $9.99 and $12.99 a month respectively). Badoo carries our lowest Philippines safety score at 5/10, so of the three we would start with Tinder or Boo.

Is FilipinoCupid better than Tinder?

They serve different intents. Tinder has the larger local pool (9/10 usage against 8/10) and costs far less ($6.99 against $29.99). FilipinoCupid has the better global Play Store rating (4.4 against 3.8) and our notes describe it as built for serious international dating with high foreigner usage. Both score 6/10 on our Philippines safety scale.

Are dating apps safe in the Philippines?

Use them with care. The apps themselves score between 5/10 and 9/10 on our Philippines safety scale, but the national safety index is 5.3/10 and we flag scam prevalence as a genuine concern for this country. Video-verify before meeting, meet somewhere public, tell someone where you are going, and never send money to a match. Our safety guide covers the specific patterns to watch for.

Do I need a Philippine SIM card to use dating apps there?

No. All ten Philippines entries in our dataset are recorded as not requiring a local SIM, so a foreign number should work for registration on every app in the ranking above.

How much do dating apps cost in the Philippines?

Between $6.99 and $34.99 a month for premium tiers, with a median of $15.99 across the ten apps we track. Tinder is cheapest at $6.99; Coffee Meets Bagel is most expensive at $34.99. These are DateAtlas measurements of local pricing converted to USD, not publisher list prices, and promotions move them.
